THCa (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is a non-psychoactive compound found in raw cannabis. When exposed to heat or light, THCa converts into THC — the well-known psychoactive component of cannabis. This conversion is called decarboxylation, and it's what unlocks the intoxicating properties when you smoke, vape or cook it.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound in the resinous flower of cannabis — a plant used as medicine for thousands of years. A safe, non-addictive substance, CBD is one of more than a hundred phytocannabinoids unique to cannabis. Many people seek it as an alternative to pharmaceuticals with harsh side effects: CBD can provide relief for chronic pain, anxiety, inflammation, depression and many other conditions.
CBN (cannabinol) is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid that may have antibacterial, neuroprotectant, appetite-stimulant and anti-inflammatory properties. It's also said that CBN combined with THC can have a sedative effect — which makes it a favorite for winding down at the end of the day.
Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) is a psychoactive cannabinoid found most prevalently in sativa strains of cannabis. It produces a more motivated, alert and energizing feeling of euphoria. For this reason it's often recommended for daytime — or any time when staying functional matters.
